Important prayer concern from MCEC

Mennonite Church Eastern Canada has recently been notified that four congregations within MCEC have each started their own review process which may lead to their leaving MCEC. In a recent letter to MCEC leadership, MCEC was alerted that discernment processes are underway as to whether or not these churches wish to remain in MCEC. MCEC Executive Council is requesting that MCEC also be given a voice in these processes.

As we respond as a wider community of congregations, the MCEC Executive Council is asking that our response as churches and leaders be respectful, gracious, and loving. All MCEC congregations are striving to be faithful to God’s call for them. In uncertain times, we are being invited to think the best of each other and to pray for the best for each other. Pray too that these processes will not be divisive for any particular congregation.

Please pray for these four congregations as they discern where God is calling them. We would also appreciate your prayers for MCEC leaders as they discern how to respond and represent the one hundred plus congregations which make up the MCEC family. Pray for wisdom and God’s guiding Spirit for all involved.

Please pray for the four congregations, which have indicated that they are part of these processes: Kingsfield-Zurich/Kingsfield-Clinton Mennonite Church, Milverton Mennonite Fellowship, Living Water Community Christian Fellowship, and Maple View Mennonite Church.

Together let us trust that God will lead in these various discernment processes and that the Spirit will be at work, resulting in every congregation involved being strengthened and more faithful to God’s call and mission to share the Good News and extend the peace of Jesus Christ.
